Ruhi's POV
I can't express this mixed feeling of excitement and nervousness that I am feeling right now. I woke up a few minutes ago and was getting ready for my first day of work.
I decided after a whole lot of overthinking that it is better that I don't think about what Siddharth said yesterday and focus on my work.
As I comb my hair, strands break and get stuck on the comb.
I sigh.
I am having a lot of hair fall lately.
Not just that, but I have also noticed some more changes in my body.
I have gained weight, and trust me, when Siddharth said that I am not heavy, it felt like a soothing balm to my insecurities that has been bothering me a lot lately. I might not show this, it might look that 'Oh! Ruhi is so confident, she doesn't have any insecurities!'
But in reality, I have been feeling a lot insecure lately.
I am experiencing random acne breakouts. And no - these aren't some food allergies or something like that. These are completely random.
There are a few more things happening to me, but I'd rather not discuss that right now.
As I walked out of my room, dressed in a simple shirt and formal pants, and went straight to the kitchen to make something to eat.
Raj bhai is busy in his room, completing some assignments that are needed to be submitted today itself. I quickly spread some butter on the bread and prepare a plate for him along with a steaming cup of chai.
I enter his room only to find him on his desk with his glasses perched on his nose, furiously typing something on his laptop. He looks up as I step into the room.
"You should rest for some time, bhai.", I suggest, concerned.
He shakes his head, "I can't. I have to submit these in an hour."
I sigh, "At least have this.", I pass him the plate and cup.
He smiles at me gratefully, "I will. By the way, all set for the first day?", he asks.
"I guess so. I am a bit nervous though.", I reply honestly.
"I understand. On my first day of internship, I was nervous too. But don't worry, everything will go smoothly.", he reassured me.
"I hope so."
He says, "Also, I have given your scooter for servicing."
"What? When?"
"This morning. I had to buy some stationery, but my bike ran out of fuel, so I took yours. Only for it to betray me in the middle of the road. Thankfully, there was a garage nearby.", he explained.
"Wait, so how am I supposed to go to work?", I ask, already panicking.
He opens his mouth to speak but realizes there's nothing to speak and gives me a sheepish smile, "I guess you'll have to take the public transport."
I sigh in frustration, my shoulder slumping.
"Hey! Don't make a face now. See it this way, if you would have taken the scooter to work and at that time if it had stopped working, it would have been worse. Be positive, you know.", he cheered me up.
I roll my eyes, "Yeah yeah, Mr. Optimistic."
He gave me a toothy smile and got back to work.
I have my breakfast too and check my bag to see if I have forgotten anything.
All set!
I bid farewell with Raj bhai and leave for work. I just hope I get an auto or taxi; I don't want to get late on the very first day.
I stand on the footpath, searching for any public transport, but whichever taxi passes by is full.
Ugh! What am I supposed to do now?!
I unlock my phone to book a cab when a bike stops in front of me. I know this bike. The biker removes his helmet.
Of course, I knew it was him.
Perfect beginning of the day.
Note the sarcasm.
I raise an eyebrow at him.
"Going to work?", Siddharth asks.
"Yes.", I reply, tapping my feet impatiently looking around for a taxi.
"Waiting for a taxi?", he asks again.
"Yeah. But what are you doing here? Don't you have to be somewhere, like anywhere but here?", I ask, not in the mood for any fights.
"I do. But unlike you, I prefer leaving early than getting late.", He taunted.
I grit my teeth, already frustrated, "Just leave before I add a 'late' before your name."
He smirked, "Why are you so worked up?"
"Because I am getting late, you idiot!"
"I don't think you will find a cab easily. Want a ride?", he suggests.
"I'd rather walk.", I say, not wanting any of his favors.
His smirk widened, "In those heels? These heels will definitely kill you."
I eye him suspiciously, "Why?"
"Why what?"
"Why do you want to help me again? And don't even talk about the favors again, because I am not going to let you do that.", I said.
"Can't I just help you for once without any alternate motive?", he asked.
"No.", I reply without hesitation.
He sighs, "I won't ask for anything."
"I still don't believe you. Why are you acting so nice to me anyway?"
He shrugs, "I just happen to be in a good mood today. And I am going in that direction anyway. Come on."
I hesitated, scrutinizing him with narrowed eyes and folded arms. He rolls his eyes, "Are you coming or not?"
I finally sit behind him, and he starts the bike.
"What were you doing near my house anyway?", I ask as we move through the busy streets of Mumbai.
"Your house comes in the way of my gym.", he explains.
He suddenly speeds up the bike, definitely trying to annoy me.
I shout, clutching the back of the bike for my dear life "I swear if I fall, I am going to drag you with me!"
He smirked, "This isn't your first time on my bike. Don't overreact."
I groan in frustration. I don't even know why I am so frustrated.
We reach my office in a few minutes. I get off the bike and turn to him.
"Well, thank you.", I said.
He nodded, "You're welcome."
I raise an eyebrow, "So, no 'I don't need your thank you' or 'You owe me' today?"
He rolled his eyes, "I told you I am not helping you with any alternate motive."
I grin, patting his back gently, "Good bo-", I immediately take my hand back when I see him glaring at me. "Okay, okay!", I raise my hands in surrender.
"Keep in mind what I told you yesterday.", saying this, he starts the engine and speeds off without even saying goodbye.
Whatever.
I enter the office, my heels clicking against the polished floor as I make my way to the reception.
The receptionist is a middle-aged lady with a kind smile.
"Hello. How can I help you?", she asked.
"Myself Ruhi Mehta, I am the new assistant marketing coordinator here.", I introduce myself.
"Oh yes. I was informed you were going to come. Just give me a minute.", she said as she called someone.
Soon a lady, who looked like she was in her late twenties, walked towards us. The way she walked screamed confidence. She came and stood in front of me, eyeing me from top to bottom, which made me slightly nervous.
"You must be Ruhi. I am Nandini Sinha, the head of marketing, you can call me Nandini. Come on, I will give you a quick tour."
I nod and follow her around the office as she explains everything along with what my work will be here. She felt approachable and welcoming.
The office was grand. With uncountable teams and people rushing around, it was really difficult to keep up with all the information she gave me. As we reach my cubicle, she says, "This will be your desk. I will be in that cabin if you need anything. I'll let you settle down."
I nod, smiling gratefully.
As I sit on my chair, arranging my desk and making myself comfortable, I hear someone call me from behind, "Ruhi?!"
Startled, I looked up, only to find Rohan sitting on the desk beside me.
What the hell is he doing here?!
"Rohan?!", I stare at him in disbelief, "What are you doing here?"
He smiles, "The same thing as you. I have been here for a week now."
Should I be happy?
Maybe I should. At least I have a known face here with me.
"Today is my first day. I wasn't aware that you work here.", I said.
"Yeah. How would you know? But it's good that you are here!"
"Yes, I guess.", I said hesitantly.
I don't have any problem with him, but I don't want to give him any wrong idea as I have noticed him trying to talk to me at college as well.
Just then, Nandini comes back and says, "Ruhi and Rohan, the CEO wants to meet the new hires. Follow me."
The CEO - Avinash Verma wants to meet us. But I don't want to meet him.
It's not like I have an option.
Rohan frowns, speaking in a low voice so that only I can hear, "I never even heard about him this whole week and now he is suddenly here."
I shrug, "He might have been busy."
As we enter the cabin, I find Avinash Verma sitting on his chair. He signals us to sit. We take a seat and greet each other with a good morning.
"Rohan Pandey and Ruhi Mehta. I will get straight to the point. You both are in the first year and are here to do a part time job. Our company recruits young employees with the goal of bringing fresh ideas to the table. This is a really big opportunity for both of you. If you are good at your work, we might consider keeping you here as a full-time employee with a boost in your salary. But if we find out that you're not doing your best, you will immediately be fired. I don't believe in second chances.", Avinash Verma explains, his voice filled with arrogance.
I nod. I glance at Rohan, and it looks like he has already planned his whole package as a permanent employee here. I, on the other hand, am only here for a few months,
After speaking to us about our work and some more details, we stand up to leave.
Just then, Avinash Verma calls out, "Ms. Mehta. I'd like to have a word with you."
I stay back as Rohan walks out after giving me a thumbs up.
"Yes, Mr. Verma?", I ask as I sit back.
"Our company is strict regarding public image. We won't tolerate any acts of PDA inside or outside our office building. So, make sure that this doesn't get repeated.", he said.
I stare at him, confused, "What doesn't get repeated?"
"What you were doing outside the office, Ms. Mehta. I saw it.", he states as if that clears all my doubts.
What is he even talking about?
"I am sorry, but I don't get you.", I said, utterly confused.
His voice raised slightly, "I am talking about you and Siddharth, Ms. Mehta! I know you both are in a relationship!"
I stare at him for a few seconds. I blinked. Once. Twice. Trying to understand if I heard it wrong or he actually said that. After finally realizing he did say that, my jaw dropped, eyes widened, "WHAT?!", I practically shouted.
"Mr. Verma, what are you-", I stopped speaking as Siddharth's words echo in my mind.
'Tomorrow something might happen that might shock you...Just, go with it.'
Is this what he meant?
Avinash Verma again spoke, "I think you get it now. So, just keep in mind what I said today. No meeting outside the office and also no such phone calls either."
"Can you please tell me, who told you this?", I asked.
"Siddharth told me about it.", he answered.
I clench my fists under my desk. That bastard is so dead!
I take a deep breath to calm myself down and force a smile, "I understood, Mr. Verma. If you'll excuse me now."
"Of course. You can get back to work."
As soon as I am out of the cabin, I go to the washroom and call that monster.
He picks up almost immediately and tries to say, "Listen, I know-"
"Mr. Siddharth Thakkar, meet me in the park at 7:00 p.m. sharp", I say firmly, trying to keep my composure. I cut the call before he can say something.
I take a few deep breaths to calm myself down and walk back to my desk.
As I sit, Rohan stares at me with curious eyes.
I give him a hesitant smile, "It's nothing."
Rohan hesitantly says, "I got a few snippets of the conversation. I didn't mean to eavesdrop! But I was standing outside, waiting for you, when I heard what he said."
My jaw drops. I face palm myself as I shake my head, "Rohan it's-"
"It's completely alright, Ruhi. I just wanted to say sorry for eavesdropping."
I stare at him, thinking of whether to tell him the truth or not.
Well, if he really likes me, it's better that he thinks that I am committed, so it won't hurt him in the future.
I gave him a small smile, signalling the end of the conversation.
I met two more colleagues, Ayesha and Sachin, who are in the same team as mine. Nandini assignassigned me some tasks, easy ones as it's my first day. I barely focus on the tasks as my entire focus is on 101 ways of hiding a dead body.
I can't believe he really said that! Why would he even declare something like that? He didn't even bother to inform me beforehand. I am so going to kill him today.
I did not say anything to Avinash Verma because I didn't want to mess with anyone on my first day at work - and because Siddharth had warned me beforehand and had told me 'To go along with it.'
But he shouldn't have said that.
Me? In a relationship with him? How can he even think that?
Just wait until I meet you, Siddharth!
Siddharth's POV
I knew Ruhi would call me after going to work. I know she will be angry.
For the last 10 minutes, I have been staring at my phone, waiting for her call. I don't even know why I am waiting for the call, but I am just trying to be prepared for whatever names she calls me.
I will calm her down first and explain everything to her.
As soon as my phone rang, I picked it up without even checking the caller id, and started speaking, "Ruhi, I know you are angry, and your anger is completely valid, but just listen to me once. I had to say that because-" I pause when I hear a muffled laughter from the other side of the call.
Finding it strange, I checked the caller id.
Naman.
I run a hand down my face as I hear him bursting into laughter.
"Seriously, Siddharth? You are so scared of her!", he said between his laughs.
"Shut up! Why did you call me?!", I ask, annoyed.
"Oh yeah! I forgot my practice sheets in your bag. Can you send me it's picture?"
"Yes, I'll send them. And don't you dare tell anyone about this!", I threatened.
"I can't promise that-"
"Yeah, then forget the practice sheets!"
"Okay okay! I'm just pulling your leg Siddharth."
After sending him the sheets, I got up to get my bag to keep the sheets back.
Just then, my phone rang.
Throwing everything away, I rushed back towards my phone.
Ruhi.
I immediately pick the call and start to say, "Listen, I know-"
"Mr. Siddharth Thakkar, met me in the park at 7:00 p.m. sharp", and then there was a beep signaling that the call had ended.
I stand there, frozen. I was waiting for so long and even got myself embarrassed for... this?
She didn't even let me speak!
Well, it is my mistake so I can't even fight with her about this.
I sigh and turn back to keep my sheets - only to find them scattered on the floor.
I flop on the couch with a frustrated groan.
I am standing in the park for the last 15 minutes and there is no trace of Ruhi.
When she comes, she will be furious, so I'll have to calm her down first. Maybe get her some food. I have heard that it's easy to talk to a girl when she is busy eating.
That's the only way to save myself- "Owww! What the-", I groan as I feel something hit my back hard. I turn around rubbing my back to ease the pain, only to find a fuming Ruhi. Her hair was all messy - probably from running her hand through them so many times out of frustration. Thanks to me.
I then noticed the heel she was holding in her hand like a weapon. My eyes widened and I immediately took a step back which she reciprocated by taking a step towards me
I raise my hands in surrender, "Ruhi, I know you are angry and-"
She didn't let me complete my sentence and started running towards me with her heel ready to attack, "Let me show you how angry I exactly am! You monster!"
I started running around the park, trying to save myself.
"Ruhi, we can talk! Violence is not an option- Oww!" her second heel hit my back as I was running. I hate how her target is so perfect.
"You are so dead today!", she picks her heel up again and throws it at me.
"Aaaa! Ruhi! Those heels hurt!"
"Oh! These heels are going to kill you today!"
I run away and stand behind a park bench while she picks both of her heels from the ground. She again starts coming towards me when I raise my hands, slightly panting, "Please! We can talk."
"Talk?-", she threw one heel which I dodged with my hand, and it hit the bench, "What do you want to talk about?!", she threw her second heel which I again dodged, and it again landed on the bench, but this time with a soft thud.
She glared at me, "Agar wo heels tooti toh me tumhe tod dungi!"
["If those heels break, then I'll break you!"]
"Tod toh waise bhi rahi hai mujhe.", I mutter under my breath.
["You are going to break me anyway."]
She narrowed her eyes at me, "What did you say?!"
"I... I am saying that, please, Ruhi, sit down and let's talk.", I plead.
She released a breath, and without saying a word, sat on the bench with her arms crossed. I cautiously walk around the bench to stand in front of her, half expecting her to again attack me with those heels.
She doesn't even look at me and stares straight ahead as she speaks, "So that's why you were acting so nice and helpful today, huh? Because you knew you created this blunder?"
I sigh, looking down, not saying anything.
She looks at me with angry eyes and before I know it, she again throws her heel at me, "Aaaa! Ruhi that's enough n-" her wide angry eyes shut me up.
"You don't even have a say now? What happened to 'let's talk'? Or you don't even have an answer?! I didn't expect you to do something like this, Siddharth! You're going to pay for this!"
"It's not that, Ruhi. I just want you to first calm down before I explain myself."
"Well, I am calm now!"
She definitely isn't.
I decided to stick to my plan for now. If her mouth is full, she won't be able to complain much. I will be able to explain everything to her easily.
To make my work even easier she herself says, "I am starving right now, so as I said you're going to pay for this, I meant it quite literally. I will decide what to do with you after eating."
In different circumstances, I would have never obeyed her orders, but I have brought this upon myself and hence, here I am following her to a café.
She walks towards the far end of the café and sits there with her arms crossed, waiting for me. I sigh, shaking my head in disbelief, clearly not liking orders from my enemy.
I sit down and look around for a waiter, only to realize that it was self-service.
"You can order whatever you want-" I stop speaking as she looks at me with raised eyebrows challenging me to complete the sentence.
I clear my throat, shifting uncomfortably on the seat, "I mean tell me what do you want to eat? I'll order it for you."
She gave me one of her sweet fake smiles, "Red sauce pasta and cold coffee."
I pinch the bridge of my nose, trying to compose myself. She smirks, enjoying this way too much.
I force a smile, "Sure ma'am, anything else?"
She flips her hair, leaning back on her seat, "Nope. That's enough for now."
I turn around without a word. Just as I take a few steps, she calls out, "Order cheese garlic bread too!"
I pause in my steps, my jaw clenched. I take a deep breath.
It's okay, Siddharth. You got this!
I go to the counter. The person standing on the counter gave me a knowing smile, "What happened, sir? Girlfriend got angry?"
I give him a long, tired look that said, "Please don't talk about this."
He chuckled, "Koi baat nahi. Hamari biwi bhi humse aise he khafa ho jati hai kabhi kabhi. Toh hum unhe kisi achhi jagah ghooma laate hain. Bas fir, wo khush ho jati hai."
["Don't worry. Sometimes my wife also gets upset. So, I took her to a good place. And just like that, she gets happy."]
"Bhaiya, aap ki baat alag hai. Meri wali antique piece hai."
[Brother, your situation is different. Mine is an antique piece.]
'Or wo meri hai bhi nahi.' But I didn't say that, not wanting to extend this conversation.
['And she isn't even mine.']
He laughs at my words.
I place the order for both of us and go back to my seat.
Ruhi is typing something on her phone.
I think of how I should start explaining myself while she is busy typing.
I wait and wait and wait for her to keep her phone down so that we can talk but she just won't stop typing.
What is she typing anyway?
Her typing was still not over when our order got ready. I kept the tray in front of her, but she was so busy typing something so furiously as if she was removing all her pent-up frustration on that poor phone.
I clear my throat which makes her finally look up. She looks at me, then at the tray of food, and then types one last message before keeping her phone down.
She picks up her fork and literally stabs the pasta while staring straight into my soul. I flinch slightly, thinking of what she might be thinking while stabbing.
Of course, she is thinking about how convenient it would be if it was me and not that pasta
Not having any more patience, I start, "Remember when we were coming back from Aditi's home that day after group study?"
She finally keeps her fork down and gives me her attention.
Flashback
I was walking with Ruhi when someone called me from behind.
I turn around to find Avinash Verma, the man I hate the most.
As I walk towards him, he smirks at me, "Long time no see, huh? How have you been?"
"What do you want, Verma?", I ask, coming straight to the point.
He mocks a frown, "I just want to meet an old friend, Siddharth! Come on! Don't act so rude now!"
I scoff, rolling my eyes.
"Oh Siddharth! Forget the past now, it's been a long time!", he said.
I again ask, "What do you want?!", my voice strained.
I don't want to talk about the past.
He clicked his tongue, "You are no fun, Siddharth - Wait, who is that beauty?"
I freeze as he tilts his head and checks Ruhi out with his filthy eyes.
"Don't even think of-", he interrupts me.
"Is she your girlfriend?", he asks, still not taking her eyes away from her.
"Verma, keep her out of this!"
"Damn! Look at those curves!"
"Verma, stop it!"
His smirk only widened seeing me all worked up, "I'd love to touch-"
I take a step towards him to punch him, but before I can, he raises a hand to stop me, "Tch, Siddharth. Think before you do anything, my bodyguard is sitting inside the car. There are CCTVs all around too."
I clench my fists tightly beside me, controlling myself.
I hate this feeling of helplessness.
"So, I was talking about that pretty little thing right there. I'd love to spend some quality time with her. Do you have her number? Or perhaps I should just give her my card and ask her to meet me tonight at-"
"Yes she is my girlfriend!"
I declare without thinking twice. I don't know why I said that, but that was the only thing that came to my mind at the moment.
Ruhi might kill me for this, but I had to stop him before he'd said something worse.
He turns his gaze back to me, "Oops! My bad! But you grabbed a hot girl, Siddharth. Proud of you."
"Fuck you!", I don't curse, but he made me.
Without waiting for a response, I walked away.
I walk past Ruhi without a word, I can't talk to her right now.
She calls out my name and when I look back, I find her confused.
I am sorry, Ruhi. That was the only thing that could shut him up.
Flashback ends
She stares at me in disbelief as I finish explaining myself.
When she doesn't say anything, I continue, "And then, after a few days, he texted me that he got to know that you are going to work under him, that he'd dig up information about you. I warned him to stay away from you and not drag you into our mess."
I sigh, "I am sorry, Ruhi, really sorry."
She leans back in her seat, absentmindedly picking at her food as she stares at practically nothing, taking everything in.
Suddenly, she sits up and slams her fist on the table making me jump.
"That son of a bitch, Avinash Verma! How dare he say something like that?! You should have told me then and there, Siddharth! I would have broken that disgusting face of his!"
"I myself would have, Ruhi. But it was risky, he is rich, and you can't fight with a millionaire in the middle of the road."
"Still! I would have done something! Why didn't you just tell me that day?!"
"You were curious, Ruhi. That day you had so many questions going on in your mind. And I was not in the mood to answer them."
"How am I supposed to face him again when I know what all things he has said about me? I can't work under him! No way!"
"Don't say that Ruhi! We both know you can take care of yourself. Don't lose your job because of me again.", my voice softens involuntarily.
She sighs, running a hand through her hair, "God! This is so frustrating!", she whines.
"Just eat first, you were hungry.", I say, trying to calm her down.
She nods and we both start eating.
Ruhi's POV
I am not angry at Siddharth, not after knowing why he said that. In fact, I feel guilty for not listening to him before and beating them with my heels.
But it was fun. Watching him obey my orders and be all scared was fun.
I am angry at that Avinash Verma. That filthy bastard. I so want to punch him in the face.
After eating, Siddharth stands up to pay the bill, but I stop him, "Wait."
"Yes?"
"Let's split the bill."
"It's alright. Just take it as an apology and-"
"I insist."
He nods in agreement.
We both make our way to the counter only to find the man standing there smiling at us.
As we finished paying the bill, he looked at Siddharth and asked, "Kya bhaiya, mana liya?"
["Brother, did you convince her?"]
Siddharth opens his mouth to say something, but no words come out of his mouth as he glances back and forth from me to the counter guy.
"What do you mean?", I asked.
The guy smiles at me, "You were upset when you both entered, na. Now you look fine. That's what I was telling him, ki lagta hai bhabhi maan gayi."
[It looks like sister-in-law is convinced.]
My jaw drops and I look up at Siddharth with raised eyebrows and arms crossed, "Bhabhi?"
He chuckles nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Yes, madam ji. Ab aaj nahi to kal bhabhi ban na he hai na!", the guy chimes.
I give the guy a sweet smile, "Of course."
"Now if you'll excuse us, I want to spend some quality time with your dear bhai!", I grab Siddharth by his arm and drag him out of the cafe while the guy calls out, "Do visit again."
Once out, I release his arm and again cross my arms, glaring at him.
He rubs his eyebrow, "Hehe... he had a misunderstanding."
I roll my eyes, "You really like this whole idea of dating me, don't you?!"
"What- no! He had a misunderstanding which I was too tired to clear.", he shrugs, "Anyway we are not going to meet him again, so forget it."
I shake my head, "I still haven't forgiven you! You should have at least told me that you've done such a blunder!"
"I didn't know how to tell this to you. I didn't know how you'd react.", he answers honestly.
"Yeah, but see! Was it that hard? Did I get mad at you after knowing the reason behind it? No, right?"
He sighs, "Yeah, well, I am sorry for that. You know what? Let me treat you with some apology dessert!"
"Apology dessert? Seriously?", I chuckle at his selection of words.
"Yeah! You didn't let me pay for the meal either. I can treat you to an ice cream for the least.", he insists.
"Well, only a fool would say no to ice cream!"
We walked to a nearby ice cream parlour and he ordered for the both of us.
While we are waiting for our ice creams, Siddharth turns towards me, "So, will you play along with this whole relationship thing?"
"Can't we just pretend to break up or something?", I asked.
He shook his head, "Then it will be the same as before. He shup up because I said you were my girlfriend. What if he tried something once he got to know you're single?"
"Is he that bad of a guy?"
"The worst. And if he finds out that we fooled him, he might use his power against you."
"But why would he think so much about me? I am just his enemy."
He hesitated before speaking, "Because you're related to me. Ruhi... I almost got him to jail once. I don't know what he'll do to you if he finds out about this lie."
My jaw dropped.
"Wait, so what if he does something because I am related to you?"
He rubbed the back of his neck, "Actually... I have not thought about that."
My eyes widened, "Kaha fasaa diya yaar, Siddharth!"
"I am sorry, Ruhi.", he said in a guilty voice.
He cleared his throat, "So... Will you?"
I take a moment to think about it. There's no harm in playing along. It's not like he's going to poke his nose in his employee's relationship.
Not even when the boyfriend happens to be his enemy.
Of course not.
I guess I'll play along then.
"Yes."
He nodded, satisfied by my answer, "Thanks, and sorry."
I clutch my chest dramatically, "That's enough, Siddharth! I might get a heart attack if you say sorry so many times!"
We both chuckle.
As we walk out with the cones in our hands, I suddenly remember something - or rather someone.
"Rohan!", I shout.
"What? Where is he?", Siddharth asked, confused.
"No! Shit! I mean, he is my colleague!"
His eyes widened, "Why is he your colleague?!"
"What why?! He has been interning there since the past week! That isn't even the point! What am I gonna do if he gets to know about us?! We work in the same bloody team!"
"Okay, so what?! He doesn't need to know anything about this!"
"Uhm.. Well, about that, he...knows", I say hesitantly.
"WHAT?! How does he know about this?"
"He eavesdropped my conversation with Avinash Verma."
"No he did not!"
"Yes he did."
He runs a hand through his hair, frustrated, "What is he? Mohalle ki aunty?!"
Despite the situation, I laugh at that.
"What now?", I asked.
"What what? We have to act like a couple in front of him too! That's the only option. Because if he really is the mohalle ki aunty he will definitely go and tell Verma!"
I groan in frustration.
"Yes or no?", he asked my opinion.
To all the boys, the love hypothesis, better than the movies and all the fake dating books scream at me to not agree to this.
But, it's not like we're going to turn into lovers or anything anyway. And, I have always wanted to do someone crazy like this.
And hence-
"Yes."
