Aditi's POV
Nine days felt like nine minutes and just like that, Navratri came to an end.
The nine days of joy, celebration, devotion, dance, everything is over. This year's Navratri was different for me. I mean, this year, I played garba with my pasandida mard, so obviously it was special.
Other than the lively garba and the spiritual atmosphere, this Navratri was filled with a lot of chaos. With the guys, it was a whole different level of enthusiasm. Their energy was unmatchable. We knew Rishi might be good at playing garba, but our jaws dropped when we saw Siddharth, lost in the music, his feet moving in rhythm, no one would say that this is the same boring Siddharth we regularly see in class.
Ruhi and Radhika, as always, amazed everyone by their dance. Our group even received a prize for the best team garba competition.
Well, Naman...when we had a garba celebration in school, I remember how he outperformed everyone with his moves. While Naman was a garba champion, I learned garba properly, because of my girls.
Also, we didn't miss a chance to entertain ourselves with the constant bickering between Siddharth and Ruhi. While Rishi occasionally flirted with Ruhi and Radhika, he tried to flirt with me too, but Naman immediately shut him up. Moreover, Rishi and Radhika have become really close.
However, the fun have come to an end. We are back to our regular routine.
I was getting ready, when I felt a sharp pain in my lower abdomen.
Periods.
Ugh!
Ignoring the pain, I quickly got ready and left for college. I reached their and saw Ruhi standing there.
I went up to her and she said, "Oh, you came. Just wait for a minute, Radhika is almost there."
A few seconds later, Radhika came along with her mother in the car. She came out along with her mother. We wished her good morning. All of our parents know us very well.
Radhika said, "Yaar, my scooter got punctured, so mon had to drop me."
Neha aunty, Radhika's mother, asked, "How's life going, kids?"
I politely replied, "It's going well."
I can never talk to elders so openly, I don't know why, that's just me.
But Ruhi? She started saying, "What should I say aunty? I get so tired every day, you know? No one's home, so I have to do all the work by myself! Cooking, cleaning, studying, everything! Plus, job!", saying this, she sighed in mock exasperation.
Neha aunty said dramatically, "Oh my poor child! You work so hard! And here this girl! Doesn't even think of helping me cut vegetables, God! Every parent should get a daughter like Ruhi!"
We all chuckled while Radhika made a face.
Radhika spoke, sounding offended, "Hawww! Mummy! Who cleaned all the fans yesterday? Who organized all those drawers? Do you guys even know how much work she makes me do in the name of Diwali!"
Neha aunty retorted, "Now you will list down the few chores you did, to your mother! Do you even know how much I work!"
Radhika shot back, "See! I do help you with the chores! You take me for granted, don't you? "
Neha aunty said, "I take you for granted? I ain't the one who is arguing with her mother! You are the one who is taking me for granted! 9 mahine pet me rakho, itna dard seh kar paida karo, aur ye sab sun na padta hai ek maa ko uski aulad se! Kya zamana aa gaya hai! Huh! "
Radhika made a face but gave up on arguing. I suddenly saw Rishi a few steps away. I immediately called him, knowing very well his effect on Radhika. "Rishi! "
He looked at us and came running towards us. I said, "Rishi, meet Neha aunty, Radhika's mom, Aunty, this is Rishi, our friend. "
He smiled warmly and shook hands with her, saying, "I can't believe ki aap Radhika ki mom ho! I mean, aap to uski badi behen jaisi lagti ho!"
Radhika choked on air and threw a glare at him. However, Neha aunty didn't quite catch that. With a mischievous smile, she said, "Haww, Radhika! Dekh ye kya bol raha hai! Keh raha hai ki tu itni budhhi dikhti hai ki meri beti nahi, meri behen lagti hai! Tch tch tch! Mein hoti toh sehti!"
We all burst into laughter.
Radhika made a pout and whined, "Mumma yaar!". Her face was completely flushed at this moment.
Neha aunty ignored her and said, "Anyway, I should go now. Byee. "
After bidding farewell, we made our way to the canteen. As we were walking, Radhika said, "Yaar, mummy ne toh bezzati kar di!"
Ruhi chuckled and said, "Haa toh itna kya muh bana rahi hai? Tere liye toh roz ka hai na!"
Radhika rolled her eyes but still smiled.
Rishi said with a cheeky smile, "Whatever you say, your mom is really awesome! Today, I got to know where you got this glow from."
She smiled shyly.
We reached the canteen and found Naman already sitting there.
We sat on our seats and were chatting with each other, when my stomach again started twisting in pain. I clutched my stomach and closed my eyes tightly. These cramps are really unbearable.
Radhika noticed my discomfort and immediately asked, "Periods?"
I nodded my head, still clutching my stomach.
They immediately gave me some chocolates, something we always keep in our bags for moments like these.
I was quietly eating my chocolates, when Naman noticed my discomfort and came by my side.
"Hey, Adi, are you okay?"
I gave him a small smile and said, "Yeah, it's just the cramps."
He said, "Do you want to go home? I can drop you."
I shook my head, saying, "No need, I can handle it."
Ruhi said, "Yes Aditi, I think you should go home. You yourself know how much you suffer during periods. You won't be comfortable here. Just go home and rest."
"But-", Naman interrupted me saying, "No buts Adi! You are going home and that's final!"
There was no winning from them. So, I left with Naman.
He said, "Give me the keys, I will drive."
I gave him the keys because I wasn't in the mood and condition for arguing.
He started the scooter, and I sat behind him. I asked, "Won't you be late for class?"
He just shrugged and said, "Nothing is more important than you."
My heart fluttered. I didn't expect him to say something like that. I took a deep breath to compose myself and I didn't know what to say, so I mumbled a quiet thank you.
He was driving so smoothly, making sure that I was comfortable. And I couldn't be any more comfortable. Minus the periods, this is just perfect.
The road ahead of us was a bit uneven. So, we were feeling a lot of turbulence. To keep myself from falling, I rested my hands on his shoulders. He visibly tensed under my touch.
We reached my place a few minutes later. He walked me to my house, assuring I was safe.
I invited him to come in, and he happily did. We kept our bags in a corner and sat down on the sofa.
Suddenly, I realized, I didn't ask him anything. I sat up straight and asked him, "What do you want? Should I make some tea?"
He immediately said, "No need to do these formalities, you need to rest. Anyway, I should leave now."
He stood up to leave, just as he was about to turn towards the door, my stomach audibly rumbled.
He looked at me with raised eyebrows. I just shrugged and said, "I didn't get the time to eat anything." And quickly added, "Don't worry, I will eat something now."
He asked, "What are you going to eat?"
"I - I will just make somethi-", he interrupted me saying, "You think I am gonna let you cook something for yourself in this condition?"
I replied, "Naman yaar, I am not sick, I can handle that much."
He spoke firmly, "I very well know you can! But I don't want you to. Why would you work when I am fit and fine? Tell me where the kitchen is and what would you like to eat?"
I sighed and said, "But only if you let me help you!"
He agreed to that. We made our way to the kitchen. I suggested him to make sandwich, an instant dish.
He said that he would make a cheese sandwich for me, something I like. He asked for the cheese. I opened the fridge and bent down as it was in the lower shelf, when I felt my back pain.
Great! Along with stomach, my back is also paining now. I hate periods!
Due to the pain, I yelped in pain, due to which Naman came rushing to my side. He again gave me a lecture about how I should rest.
I gave him a pout and said, "Okay, I won't work, but I will sit here and give you company."
He sighed and agreed. I sat on the counter; he stood beside me and started applying butter on the bread. I just sat there, admiring him with a smile. He was fully focused on his task. He then grated some cheese on the bread.
After that, he looked up to ask for something, but as soon as he saw me, he stopped. I was just staring at him, completely lost in him. He took a step closer to me and snapped his fingers in front of me. That's when I realized what I was doing and immediately composed myself. Clearing my throat, I asked, "You were saying something?"
He was suppressing his smile, while saying, "Oregano and chilli flakes. "
"Oh yeah, it's just up here." I replied, while trying to reach the handle of the cabinet, which I wasn't able to.
Naman came closer to me and my movements ceased due to our proximity. He was standing really close to me. We just kept looking in each other's eyes. His eyes showcasing the same emotions as mine.
Suddenly, I heard a squeak from above me, which brought me out of the ocean of his eyes. He moved his gaze up towards the cabinet, removed the things he needed, closed it, and again looked down at me.
He kept his arms on both sides of me on the counter, caging me. "Aditi", he whispered. My heartbeat quickened. "Naman", I whispered back. He said, his voice just a whisper, " Aditi, I... I" We were standing so close; I could feel his breath on my face. He was trying to say something, something I wanted to say too. He was about to say something, when my stomach rumbled, again.
Great timing.
He immediately moved back, and started looking everywhere but at me, while rubbing his neck awkwardly. He cleared his throat and said, "I - I will make the sandwich.", saying this, he again continued making the sandwich. I said, "I'll ju-just wait for you outside.", I immediately went out of the kitchen.
I sat on the sofa and sighed. I placed my hand on my chest, my heart was beating in the speed of a bullet train. After a few minutes, he came out with a plate of cheese sandwich. He placed it in front of me and sat beside me. We started eating the cheesy piece of bread. It wasn't just the taste; it was the affection he put in making it. I exclaimed, "Mmm, it's so good!"
He smiled at my compliment and said, "Thank you."
I looked at him and said, "Thanks a lot, Naman, it really means so much to me!". He smiled at me and said, "The pleasure is all mine!"
"By the way, your house is really beautiful, and also, same as it was back then in Delhi.", he commented, to which, I replied, "Yes! Just like you." He stopped mid bite and looked at me. I just smiled and shrugged. He took the bite and smiled, shaking his head, he said, "You should stay away from Rishi, he is really teaching you how to flirt."
I chuckled and said, "Oh, shut up! I am just saying the truth."
"You know how much I love hearing you laugh? Tumhari hasi ke liye to mein kuch bhi kar sakta hu!" He said playfully, making my heart skip a beat.
I smiled and said, "Okay, this can't get any cheesier! It's too much cheese to digest.", completely ignoring the blush formed on my ears.
He smirked, "So what? Only you can flirt?"
I just rolled my eyes. After eating, he decided to leave. I bid farewell to him after hearing a whole lecture about how I should just rest and call him if needed.
As he left, I immediately went to bed to sleep, because I couldn't handle this pain anymore. I slept with a smile on my face as I remembered all our moments.
Ruhi's POV
After Aditi and Naman left, we went to class. I wasn't even paying attention to it, I was thinking about the discussion we were going to do after college, which might be postponed because of Aditi.
So, the thing is, Radhika's birthday is on 21st October and mine is on 25th October. Hence, every year, we take a whole week off and enjoy ourselves. It's been just me and her since childhood, and then Aditi too. But now? They are insisting to take the boys too. I mean, I don't have any problem with Naman and Rishi, but that monster? I don't want him on my birthday!
We have to decide everything soon, as we have only a few days left.
Anyway, the first few lectures ended peacefully, as that monster was not there.
It was break time, and I was going out of the class. Rishi and Radhika were waiting for me outside the class. As I walked out of the class, I bumped into a someone, I looked up to see in was none other than the monster.
None of us moved back. We were just throwing daggers at each other. I spoke firmly, "Move aside."
He snorted, and I could feel his breath on my face, which increased my heartbeat for no bloody reason. He said, "YOU move aside."
"Not at all!"
"Well, I ain't one to back out either."
Rishi said, "Come on Sid, you can just go from this side.", to which he replied, "No, I will go from here only!"
I clenched my jaw. Radhika said, "Ruhi, at least you can go from this side."
"No way!", I replied.
We just stood there, looking at each other with fury in our eyes. Suddenly, I felt a push from behind, due to which, I landed on Siddharth's chest, my hands coming to rest on his chest. I gasped. He immediately circled his arms around my waist so that I don't fall.
I looked up at him with wide eyes. I felt something in my stomach due to his touch. I just kept looking, I couldn't look away.
His eyes are so beautiful! I observed his face, he has the perfect features. Sharp nose, a chiseled jaw line, his lips, so full and symmetrical, everything so perfect, something I never noticed before.
I was just observing his face, when I heard someone say, "Where have I seen this before?", it was Rishi, but I didn't really pay attention.
I was still looking at him when he tightened his grip around me. Before I could understand what was happening, I was lifted up, spun and again put down.
I just stood there, reeling with what just happened. Siddharth, lifted me, and moved me aside.
Wait! "Hey! That's cheating!", I said. He can't just move me aside like this!
He, who had left me and was walking away, said, not even turning around, "Everything is fair in love and war."
Before I could reply, Radhika said, "Are, ye love tha ki war ye to clear kar dete Siddharth!"
Rishi said, "I think that's love."
Radhika said, "Haina? Muje to pehle se shaq tha!"
Flustered, I said, "Shut up!"
I didn't look at anyone else and walked away.
Why didn't I just move back? Why did he have to lift me up like that? Why did I feel those things in my stomach at his touch?
I went to the washroom, closed the door behind me, and leaned against it.
I took a deep breath, and said to myself, "I really have to stop reading all those romance novels!"
I looked up and saw a few girls looking at me with a judgemental look.
I smiled at them awkwardly and went out of the washroom.
I came out and again bumped into someone, startled, I let out a yelp.
Thankfully, it was Radhika this time. I sighed in exasperation. Radhika asked, "What happened? You look flustered."
"I- nothing! Let's go to the canteen"
We went to the canteen, and I kept myself busy with my phone.
After some time, the break got over and the lectures continued.
The lectures ended after what felt like eternity. Right now, we just came out of the college and the sun's heat is way too overwhelming.
Radhika said, "Who's gonna say it's October! Just look at the sun!"
Rishi said, "For real! It feels like April-May!"
Radhika suggested, "Juice pine chalte hai, thanda thanda!"
Siddharth agreed saying, "Yeah, it's a good idea."
I couldn't help myself, so I said, mimicking, "Juice pila do! Mosambi ka!"
Rishi continued, "Juice pila do! Mood off hai mera!"
"Pilaaa doo na! ", I continued.
Both of us burst into laughter. Radhika said, "Guys please! Wo banda already reels me itna irritate karta hai, tumlog to mat karo."
Siddharth, with a confused look, said, "What are you guys even talking about?"
We all rolled our eyes, I asked him, "Where do you live, huh? Under the rock?"
He asked, "What?"
"Do you know what Instagram is?"
"I obviously know it! I am just not interested in wasting my time in these stupid apps."
I sighed, him and his PRECIOUS time!
I said, "Okay, forget it, let's go."
Radhika said, "No, let it be now."
I shrugged, saying, "Okay."
Radhika said, "Anyway, Ruhi, when are we discussing?"
I replied, "Tonight? At my place?"
Radhika and Rishi immediately jumped in agreement. Siddharth asked, "What are we discussing?"
Radhika excitedly replied, "Oh, it's about our birthday, mine and Ruhi's! So, every year, we take a week off and spend it enjoying and celebrating ourselves! This year, you guys are invited too!"
I hurriedly said, "Only if you want to, you know, you don't have to waste your PRECIOUS time for us, so yeah!"
"What precious time, huh? Bhaad me gaya tera precious time! Tu aa raha hai and that's final", Rishi declared.
I again said, "Aree, but what if he doesn't want to come with u-", Siddharth interrupted me saying, "Who said I don't want to come?"
I blinked at him, "So, you are saying, that YOU are going to WASTE your time with us?"
He replied, "Absolutely!"
"You know na, it's a whole week! You won't be able to study for a whole week! Just think about it!"
"Seems like you care about my studies more than I do."
"More like I care about not ruining my birthday!"
"So, it's final, I am coming!"
I sighed,"8 p.m. my place. Don't be late!"
We went home after that. I freshened up, had some snacks and did some chores. We have already informed Aditi and Naman to come.
It was almost time, and I was researching some outing inspo, when the doorbell rang.
They came in and Siddarth immediately eyed my favorite spot to sit. He then looked in my direction, smirked and almost ran towards the seat. I ran too, not wanting him to take my seat.
Luckily, I was a bit faster, I reached the seat, and he was about to jump on it, but I pushed him aside, careful not to get him hit by another furniture. He fell on the floor, not so harshly and I hurriedly sat on my place.
I made myself comfortable and then looked around at the others, they were looking at us, specifically at Siddharth, as if they had seen a ghost.
I looked down at him, he gave me glare, I just shrugged. He stood up and was about to say something, when we heard Rishi's dramatic, high-pitched voice, saying, "Who are you? Where is my friend Siddharth? What did you do to him?"
Siddharth asked, "What?"
"You can't be the Siddharth I know! He would never to this!"
Siddharth rolled his eyes and said, "Shut up". He then turned to me, "Is this how you treat your guests?"
I shrugged, "Depends on who the guest is."
He shook his head and sat on the seat next to me. I started, "So, any ideas? Where should we go?"
Naman asked, "What about the budget? Let's first decide that."
Radhika said, "We girls save money for a whole year, just for a week's celebration. You guys can contribute whatever you are okay with."
They nodded their heads. We started discussing the places and things we could do.
After a lot of discussion, we came at a conclusion of going to Lonavala. Yes, typical, but perfect for a week's outing.
So, we will be booking a villa for ourselves. We will also visit famous places nearby. The best part is the 2 hour road trip. I mean, who doesn't want to re-create Dil Chahta Hai and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara!
It was already 9 p.m. so they decided to leave. After they left, I studied for a while and had my dinner.
After that, I slept peacefully.
Radhika's POV
Yesterday, we discussed everything. This trip is going to be awesome! Today, I wanted to go for some shopping. I need to buy my birthday dress. But Aditi and Ruhi couldn't come because they were busy in themselves. So here I am, sitting on a bike, behind Rishi. I called him and he agreed. I mean, I need a company, I don't wanna get bored.
We reached the mall and went straight into the Zara showroom. I started looking around at the beautiful pieces of clothes and he followed me like a lost puppy. A beautiful white party wear one piece caught my eye. I picked it up and showed it to Rishi, "How's this one?"
His eyes brightened and he said, "This will look so beautiful on you, honey!"
I saw people around us throwing those side eyes and knowing glances at us. Heat rushed to my face. I smacked him saying, "Stop calling me that! People are getting the wrong idea!"
He acted innocent and asked, "What idea?"
I rolled my eyes saying, "You know it very well!"
He smirked, "But I thought you liked me!"
"That, I do!", I blurted out. A second later I realized what I just said. I looked up at Rishi. He was looking at me with raised eyebrows.
"So bold, huh?"
" I... that... I didn't mean-"
"It's okay, Radhika, stop stammering. I know you are just gonna say 'I like you as a friend, Rishi', so it's okay."
I blinked. I wasn't going to say that. I mean, I do like him, but I won't say that it is just a friendly liking. Since the moment I have laid eyes on him, I couldn't look away, hence I know that I do like him, and I have to admit it sooner or later.
I shook my head to clear my thoughts. I cleared my throat and said, "Anyway, tell me should I try it?"
He nodded his head, and I went in the trial room. The dress was perfect. I decided not to show it to him as I wanted to reveal my look on my birthday.
I changed back into my outfit and came out of the trial room. Rishi looked up and disappointment flushed through his face, "I thought you were going to show me the look!"
"I wanted to keep it a surprise for the birthday!"
"Anyway, tell me, are you buying it?"
I excited answered, "Yes!"
His eyes widened, "What? So soon? You just decided to buy the first dress that caught your eye?"
"Yes, it looked good on me, so what's the problem in that?"
"I thought girls take a lot of time in shopping!"
I rolled my eyes, flipping my hair, "Well, I am unique!"
"That I know, you are very unique, or should I say antique? Because according to your mom, you are too old!"
"Haawww, Rishi, how dare you? Go away, I am not talking to you!"
I walked away from him and towards the billing counter.
"Aree Radhika, chill na, I was just joking! Achha I am sorry!", saying this, he started doind sit ups.
I gasped, "Rishi, what are you doing?"
"Trying to get your forgiveness! "
Before I could say something, the lady on the counter said, "Ma'am, you should forgive him! He seems really sorry."
"I- Yes, yes, now come on! Stop doing that!"
He stopped and side hugged me, mumbling a quiet thank you. This small action made my heart skip a beat.
The lady said smiling, "We were just like you both, when we were of your age."
Confused, I asked, "We?"
Her smile widened and her eyes twinkled as she said, "Me and my husband!"
My eyes widened, "Oh, no, no! We aren't dating. You have a misunderstanding!"
She, still smiling, said, "Not yet!"
I looked at Rishi; he was already looking at me. We just kept looking into each other's eyes.
I gulped, I couldn't look anymore, so I looked away. If I would have stared into his eyes for even one more second, I don't know what I would have done.
He cleared his throat and said, "Let's go."
I nodded and we moved out of the store.
We were making our way towards the jewelry store, when his phone rang, he excused himself and took the call.
I stood there, waiting for him to complete talking. I tried to look around, at anything but him, but my eyes were continuously betraying me.
I looked at him, he was leaning against the glass railing, casually talking on the phone, while animatedly moving his hands, as if the person on the other side could see him.
I smiled at the sight. He looked handsome in anything and everything he would do. As I continued admiring him, his eyes met mine. As soon as it happened, my heart again skipped a beat. He smiled at me and signalled me to wait for 2 minutes.
I nodded my head. After finishing his call, he came to me and said, "Let's go."
We went into the jewelry shop and I started looking around for some matching jewelry for my dress.
As I was looking around, a simple, minimalistic, yet so pretty, set of jewelry. I looked at it in awe. I thought of buying it, even though it didn't match my outfit. But as soon as I saw its price, the awe converted into ouch.
It was too expensive to my liking, so I immediately kept it back in its place and moved ahead.
I then looked at some cheaper products, which matched my outfit. I found a cute, matching necklace, I turned around to show it to Rishi, but he was not there.
Strange. He was just here a moment ago. I looked around, I couldn't find him anywhere. So, I took the necklace and started looking here and there for him.
I saw him by the billing counter, talking to the girl on the counter. My face fell. He left me to flirt with her? Why?
I stood behind him and cleared my throat to grab his attention. He heard me and immediately straighened. He also hid something behind his back.
I narrowed my eyes and asked, "What are you doing here?"
He stammered, "I... just... here and there, nothing much.", he gave me a nervous smile. I didn't buy it, but let go, and asked, "How is this?", showing the necklace.
He gave me a genuine smile, saying, "It's pretty, just like you, honey!"
I rolled my eyes but couldn't suppress the smile. Everytime he calls me honey, my heart flutters and I can't control the smile.
"I'll just buy this, I have a few pair of earrings at home, it will match the dress. "
"As you wish!", he said, "Now let's go and eat something, I am really hungry!"
I chuckled and said, "Bhukkad!"
We made our way to the food court and decided to have Pizza and Cold Coffee.
We ate our food and clicked some random photos.
After that, we decided to go home. I sat on the bike behind him. It was already around 9:30 p.m., so it was dark, and the city was covered with cool breeze.
Rishi asked, "If you don't mind, should we go to Marine Drive?"
I hesitated, I told my mom I will be home by 10, I said, "Let me ask my mom first"
He nodded his head. I called my mom and said, "Hello, mumma, I am done with my shopping and... we were thinking of going to marine drives, so... should I go? "
She said, "Yes, go bacha enjoy, you are not alone na?"
I replied, "No mumma, Rishi is with me too."
"Okay beta, but yes, come before 11!"
"Yes, mumma, okay byee!"
"Byee bachaa!"
I cut the call and said, "Let's go!"
He increased the speed, and we drove through the busy streets of Mumbai, the cool air hitting air faces, making our hair fly.
After a few minutes, we found ourselves at a quite spot on the footpath. Our legs hanging above the rocks, a comfortable silence wrapped around us.
Though it is night, the place is still crowded, a speciality of Mumbai. There's a reason we call it 'The city that never sleeps'
Rishi broke the silence, saying, "Your mom doesn't doubt you? I mean, you, roaming around, at this hour, with a guy, doesn't she feel strange or something?"
I smiled, "My mom trusts me, she knows I would never do anything wrong. And as for the guy, her motherly instincts say that you are a good person, and she can trust you. "
He smiled, but that soon turned into a smirk, and he said, "Well, seems like your mom's motherly instincts were wrong, because I am here to kidnap you!", saying this, he leaned forward, as if trying to cover my mouth.
I moved his hand away and said, "Go away!"
We both chuckled.
We sat there, at the queen's necklace, completely at peace with the sound of the waves hitting the rocks and the cool breeze touching our face, playing with the strands of our hair.
I couldn't help but sing:
Yeh raaten, yeh mausam,
Nadi ka kinara,
Ye chanchal hawaa.
I looked in his direction, and saw him smiling. I smiled back, as I continued the song.
Yeh raaten, yeh mausam,
Nadi ka kinara,
Yeh chanchal hawaa.
Kaha do dilon ne
Ke milkar kabhi hum
Na honge judaa.
Yeh raaten, yeh mausam,
Nadi ka kinara,
Yeh chanchal hawaa.
We looked at the moon above us, and then back at each other. Smiling, we both stood on the footpath, we clasped our one hand, and I placed my other hand on his shoulder, while his hand hovered over my waist, not touching me, respecting my boundaries. I continued.
Yeh kya baat hai
Aaj ki chandni me..
Yeh kya baat hai
Aaj ki chandni me,
Ke hum kho gaye
Pyaar ki ragini me.
As we danced in rhythm, I looked into his eyes, while singing the lyrics. The song, somehow portraying my inner feelings. Before I could continue, he sang;
Yeh baahon me baahen,
Yeh behki nigahen,
Lo aane laga zindagi ka mazaa.
He pulled me closer. Our faces inches apart. I could feel his breath as he sang the lyrics. My heart was beating really fast and I could feel butterflies in my stomach. We now sang the lyrics together.
Yeh raaten, yeh mausam,
Nadi ka kinara,
Yeh chanchal hawaa.
Yeh raaten, yeh mausam,
Nadi ka kinara,
Yeh chanchal hawaaaaaa.
We danced at the last few words with grace. At the last moment, he spun me around, due to which, I lost my balance, and fell on his chest. At this moment, there was a whole zoo dancing in my stomach. My face was flushed and I was lost in his eyes.
I came out of my trance, when we heard people clapping. We released each other and looked around to see a crowd had gathered, watching our performance. I blushed hard and looked everywhere but at Rishi.
He himself was smiling sheepishly, rubbing his neck. A few seconds later, the crowd started to disperse. Rishi cleared his throat and said, "I think we should leave now, it's already late."
I nodded my head and we sat on the bike.
The whole ride, none of us said a word, still too lost in our little moment.
We reached my place and I said, "Thanks, Rishi, for coming with me, and, for making this day so memorable."
He smiled warmly and said, "The pleasure is all mine! "
I smiled back and bid farewell with him. After going home, I changed into comfortable clothes and showed my mom everything I bought today, which was followed by the list of things we did.
This is my daily routine. Telling my mom everything I did. She would quietly listen to everything. She was happy too, that I was so happy.
After that, I went to bed. I recalled the whole day, the shopping, the munching, the dance, above all, the peace I get, when I am with him. I smiled to myself as I remembered our little dance. This is gonna be a moment I am going to cherish forever!
