Ruhi's POV
Today is the first day of the first year of my college and my scooter had to betray me today itself. My friends are already waiting for me near the college gate, and here I am sitting in an auto which is stuck in traffic.
Mumbai traffic!
Finally, after 10 more minutes, I reached my college and there, standing near the gate were my two idiots: Aditi and Radhika.
Radhika and I are childhood friends, and we met Aditi in class 8, and she instantly became a part of our group.
As soon as I reached them, I got a smack on my head from Aditi.
"Really sorry guys, my scooter betrayed me at the end moment, and you know about the traffic too! What could I do?", I immediately said before they could start with their curses.
"What sorry? We are waiting for the last 20 minutes. Don't you have any shame?", Radhika said angrily.
"Achha, I will give you guys a treat as a compensation. Now please, let's go inside. ", I replied in urgency as I really needed to reach the library ASAP.
As we walked into the campus, we were met with the beautiful architecture of the college. This is one of the best colleges in India. It is very difficult to get an admission in THE BRIGHT UNIVERSITY, but thanks to our grades, we were able to come here.
As we were looking around, Aditi asked me, "Why did you call us early anyway? "
"Oh, because I needed to go to the library. ", I replied.
Both of them stared at me as if they'd seen a ghost.
"What? ", I raised an eyebrow.
"You asked us to come early on the first day of college to go to the bloody library? ", Radhika asked me.
Aditi said, "Are you out of your mind? It's the first day and you want to go and study?"
Before I could even say anything, both of them started ranting about how mad I am.
"Guys!" I said with my voice a little raised, "let me speak at least. I am not going there to study! I am going to the library to get that limited edition book I told you guys yesterday about!"
After a few seconds of confusion, realization flushed on their faces and both of them gave me an 'O' look.
I sighed in relief and said, "Now please, let's go or the book will be sold out. "
Radhika said, "Whatever the reason, we are still not going to the library, okay? You go. We will go to the canteen."
"Yes, meet us in the canteen once you get the book. ", Aditi said.
I again sighed, this time in exasperation. " Okay then, bye. "
As I made my way towards the library, I couldn't help but think about the book. It is a limited-edition book and luckily our college has its copies for sale. This book is SOLVING LIFE, judging by the reviews, it is a great book. And hence, I had to buy it.
As I entered the library, there it was, just a single copy left.
Lucky me!
While walking towards the book, I was too excited to notice the scent of the spicy, masculine perfume and the presence of a certain someone behind me.
I reach the table where the book was kept and stare at it for a few seconds.
Finally! I have been wanting to buy this book for a really long time, but it was sold out everywhere.
Just as I was about to grab the book, a veiny hand came in my sight and grabbed the book before I could.
As I looked up to see the owner of the hand, I came in contact with a pair of beautiful, hazel brown eyes. I stared in those eyes for a few seconds before it clicked me.
My eyes widened in realization. No! That book is supposed to be mine. This man, who just took MY book was just standing there going through the book.
"Excuse me!", I said, my voice slightly raised.
"Yes?", he replied calmy, as if he didn't just take my book. The audacity!
"I was going to take that book!", I replied, thinking he would understand and give it back, but no, he wanted to be an idiot. He just raised his eyebrow and calmly asked me, "So?"
Slightly frustrated, I took a deep breath and said, "So, give it to me."
And gave him a tight-lipped smile and said, "No", and started leaving.
So, Mr. Beautiful Eyes turned out to be Mr. Selfish!
Now I was getting more and more frustrated. I called him loudly, "Excuse me, you can't just go away taking something that belongs to someone else!"
He turned around with an amused expression on his face.
But before he could say anything, a voice came from behind, "Silence! This is a library.", the librarian said.
I suppressed the urge to roll my eyes and again turned around to see him suppressing his laugh.
Is this guy for real?
"Listen, give that book back, I don't want to create a fuss.", I said firmly.
He took a step towards me, kept the book on the table beside us, crossed his arms and said, "And what made you think I would do that?"
My frustration grew.
Again, with my voice raised, I said, "Because I came here first! ", only to get a glare from the librarian.
He shrugged, "But I got the book first, so I take it."
"Listen, don't mess with me! Just give me that goddamn book." I ordered, my voice growing by every word.
He, now a bit annoyed by my ordering tone, replied, "You listen, 'Ms. Don't mess with me', if you want this book so badly, you should've come early. I got the book first, so I take it. Simple."
I had no more patience left in me at this moment, so I said in a loud voice, "Give. Me. The. Book!"
He, now totally annoyed by my tone, said with his voice raised, "No way I'm giving this book to you, and DON'T YOU DARE ORDER ME!"
Before I could react, the librarian said, "Enough both of you! Don't you have manners? This is a library, not a fish market!"
"But he-", before I could defend myself, the librarian again spoke, "No buts. I've been looking at you both for so long, no manners! Now you both will get punishment, no library access for one month!"
My eyes widened. I couldn't afford that. But before I could say anything, she again spoke, "Out both of you, right now!"
I sighed in defeat and turned around only to see him smirking at me. I clenched my jaw. I so want to rip that smirk off his face. Ugh!
As he turned around to grab the book, his smirk instantly vanished and converted into shock.
What the hell!
He got shocked and asked the librarian, "Where is the book?"
The librarian said, "A boy took that book when you both were fighting. Do billiyon ke jagde me, bandar fayda utha gaya." She smirked clearly enjoying the situation.
[In the fight between two cats, the monkey got the benefit]
We both looked at each other with eyes filled with frustration. And said at the same time,
"You -! "
"Out!", said the now frustrated librarian.
As we walked out, we both were throwing daggers at each other.
I walked out of the library and looked at the time to see it was already 7:15.
I quickly made my way towards the canteen, and I could feel that guy coming behind me too.
I decided to ignore him.
As I entered the canteen, I saw the most unexpected and shocking sight.
Aditi engulfed in a hug with a guy!
What on earth is going on here?!
